S.L. Weiss – Courante from Sonata 34 in E Minor

Working on the third movement of this wonderful Sonata.

S.L. Weiss – Allemande from Sonata 34 in E Minor

Continuing my study of this Sonata written by S.L. Weiss in 1720 where he had been Lutenist at the court of Dresden for two years.  The Allemande is one of the popular instrumental dance forms in Baroque music and a standard element of a suite or sonata. Originally, the allemande formed the first movement of the suite, before the Courante but, later, it was often preceded by an introductory movement, such as a prelude.
